Tool designed to easily fit the crankshaft rear main seal on all BMW R2v Airhead Boxers made between 1970 and 1996.

It is of paramount importance that this seal is seated properly and gapped correctly to avoid any undue distortion thus causing possible oil leaks (contaminating the clutch plates) and in worst cases, damage to the crankshaft. 

The use of the original flywheel bolts, evenly tightened in sequence will allow the tool to squarely fit the seal in place.

Designed to fit the original BMW crankshaft rear main seal reference: 11111338342   

IMPORTANT: 

Please block the crankshaft at the front (alternator end) so it does not move and cause the rear end float adjusting shim to fall out of place from its two dowel guides. Use our Crank Counter Hold Tool (11 1 800) specifically designed for this purpose.

Please insert the seal dry, as per the factory instructions for the new type seal. Please also replace the flywheel o ring on post 1976 MY models 

OBS:

Could also be used as an extractor of the old seal but a minor modification is required, by drilling two small holes in its outer flange (3-3.5mm at 180 degrees). 

These holes will allow the use of two small corkscrews (self tapping screws) driven into the old seal through the tool. 

By using then a M10 x 1.00 fine pitch bolt through the centre threaded hole of the tool and tightening against the crank, it will act as a puller, prying the old seal away from the engine block.

Can also be used as a guide jig to ensure the seal is stored correctly, without distortions.
