• 1 x FlatRacer BMW /7 S/RS/RT cowl dual seat replacement foam

This sale includes our replacement seat foam and our new and improved, heavy duty blue vinyl replacement seat cover, double skinned and padded, with the correct pleated type pattern. These are designed to fit the original dual seat fitted with a separate cowl first seen on the BMW R90S (later type with pleated seat cover). This seat was later adopted for the /7 Series, usually fitted to the S, CS, RS & RT.

This particular colour was used for the 1978 Special Edition BMW R100 RS Motorsport, apparently a cancelled order of 200 motorcycles destined to a foreign country for their Authorities use. The Motorsport edition was subsequently used for a publicity stunt, enlisting the help of several motorcycle journalists and dealers driving from the BMW Munich headquarters to various Europeans cities. A great cult bike which is quite rare and sought after nowadays.

This seat cover and foam fits all the BMW R90S & later /7 Series models equipped with the cowl dual seat. Please check photos.

This type of cowl seat was commonly fitted to the R90S (73-76) and the later RS, S & RT. However this type of seat will also fit any post 1976 to 1984 BMW /7 Series. Please look carefully at the above photos including of the seat and bikes commonly fitted with it and check that this seat cover will suit your seat.

Very useful seat that allows you to restore the original seat, keeping your bike's authenticity, especially for the Motorsport editions and replicas of it.

IMPORTANT:

1 - This shade of blue is the closest we could find to the original colour but we cannot guarantee a perfect match to the original as materials and suppliers have changed in over 40 years.

2 - Fitting these seat covers requires a certain degree of knowledge and skill. If you are not comfortable with this type of work, we would suggest entrusting the job to a competent local trimmer, versed in motorcycle seat repair work.
