BMW Airhead Boxer post 1981 electronic ignition Hall sensor & ICU module (amplifier) tester.
Designed and developed by us to work with all the BMW Airheads Boxers made from 1981 to 1996 fitted with the transistorized ignition module R284.
The compact design includes two bright 12v LED bulbs.

The power is supplied by the bike's own electrical system. The tester is connected directly between the ignition timing 7-pin connector plug for the ICU (Ignition Control Unit) and the ICU module itself. It can be used whilst the engine is being run.
Suitable for all ignition systems with Hall sensors and the 7-Pin ICU.
A very useful and practical tool to test and diagnose the original Hall sensor and the Ignition module fitted to all the post September 1980 BMW Airhead Boxer original electronic ignition systems.
If your Hall sensor and ICU module work correctly when tested with this tool, then very likely that your ignition issues reside elsewhere, such as the ignition coil, especially the post 85 versions which were notorious for cracking and failing, especially when warm.
This Ignition Tester can also be used to set the correct ignition timing. The LED for the Hall Sensor will light up when in the firing position thus enabling you to adjust the ignition canister to align with the crank marks.
