FlatRacer BMW R2v Airhead Boxer (79-96) Driveshaft Compressor Tool - 80000 11 2 800 or 26-1-700
Heavy duty BMW Airhead Boxer driveshaft compressor tool, it allows to disassemble easily and safely the BMW post September 78 coil sprung (cushioned) driveshafts in order to rebuild it or remove it fully from the swing arm for repairs or refurbishment.
The tool assembly comprises 8 & 9mm stainless steel compressor plates, heavy duty M10 studs (50mm long) and BZP steel spacer nuts and nyloc nuts plus stainless steel fasteners for the gearbox output flange and swing arm/bevel drive mounting flange.
Based on the original factory Matra tool (which often will have its side lugs bent and distorted) but much sturdier, longer lasting and improved by us to fit all BMW R2v Airhead Boxers road going models made after September 1978 (from 1979 year model) fitted with coil sprung (cushioned) driveshafts.
Essential tool to disassemble these sprung driveshafts in safety, designed to withstand frequent workshop use. With some lateral thinking, can also be used to remove coil springs from certain type of shock absorbers.
Replaces original BMW/Matra tool: 80000 11 2 800 or 26-1-700
OBS:
SWING ARM BEARINGS - Our tool steeped puller base can double as a base and guide for a inexpensive blind bearing puller to remove these notoriously difficult to extract swing arm bearing races, easily and without damage to the swing arm and its surfaces. The tool base will keep the puller steady and its centre hole provides a perfect guide to extract the bearing races straight and level.
This avoids the purchase and use of the expensive factory recommended Kukko puller that more often than not damages the swing arm faces and paintwork where its outer legs have to exert pressure.
Special thanks to Simon Kelleher for drawing our attention to it and very kindly providing the photo of our puller base being used to this effect.
