FlatRacer BMW Airhead Boxer Transmission Driveshaft lock tool 26-1-600 (pre-78)
FlatRacer BMW Airhead Boxer Transmission Driveshaft lock tool
FlatRacer BMW Airhead Boxer Final Transmission Drive Shaft lock tool 26-1-600
Designed and developed by us to enable secure and easy tightening and undoing of Final Drive/Bevel Box pinion fitted to all BMW made between 1969 and September 1978 with solid driveshafts (taper fit driveshaft end bell - 24mm nut)
This tool is made of heavy duty 6mm thick steel plates, laser cut for precision of fit, jig assembled and TIG welded for strength and sturdiness.
Developed to provide a positive lock to the final drive pinion whilst the bevel box is being rebuilt (see our Final Drive vice holding tool).
Bolts in place using M10 bolts/nuts (not supplied).
IMPORTANT: Driveshaft will need to be secured and immobilized, ideally on a workbench vice, for the tool to lock correctly in place and allow the use of a 24mm socket to undo/tighten the driveshaft end nut.
Can be used in conjunction with our Driveshaft Compressor (26-1-700) if you require an alternative way to secure and immobilize in place the driveshaft (ie: no movement back and forth on the swing arm).
Care should be exercised when handling as this is an heavy tool. Personal protection equipment is recommended when handling it (ie: gloves and steel toe cap shoes).
Fits:
- BMW /5 Series (69-70)
- BMW /6 (73-76)
- BMW R90S
- BMW /7 (76-78)
