BMW Airhead Boxer post 1981 electronic ignition module
BMW Airhead Boxer post 1981 electronic ignition module
Designed as a modern and improved replacement of the original ignition module fitted to all BMW R2v Airhead Boxer models manufactured after Septmeber 1980, fitted with the original Bosch electronic ignition system.
High quality replacement, made in Germany to the original BMW specifications. Designed a straight replacement of the original module, using your existing alloy heatsink plate.
Always a good insurance policy to replace or keep one as a handy spare as the originals tend to fail due to age and wear, especially around the pin soldering inside the sealed case, this is especially noticeable when hot.
Direct replacement, straight and easy swap, replaces BMW reference: 12141244477
IMPORTANT:
1 - This item require the re-use of the original aluminium heat sink, thoroughly cleaning it and applying a suitable thermal paste (available from any good electronics shop)
2 - If your bike has a later ignition module, commonly fitted post 1985 models including R100 GS, Monolever & Paralevers (which was superseded by BMW, reference 1214232584) with an integrated alloy heatsink plate, this module will NOT fit straight on. The later integrated plate has slightly different dimensions including the mounting hole centre to centre distance. In order to fit, the later plate would be to be modified (ie: re-drill).
