Designed to fit the BMW typ 248 (R45/65) fitted with either the twin pot ATE or the later F08 (P08) Brembo brake callipers.
This sale includes:
- 1 x FlatRacer BMW R45/65 (78-84) tubular steel fork brace - black
- 1 x FlatRacer BMW /6 & /7 short fibreglass (GRP) front mudguard - pre-drilled and fitted w/ s/s fasteners
This kit uses our tubular steel fork brace, a very sturdy and proven design, will enhance the road holding qualities on your BMW. This tubular brace replaces the original flimsy mudguard mount & provides substantial bracing of the fork legs. Increases the forks' torsional rigidity, always a weak point with older telescopic forks.
The fork brace is accurately and carefully made, paying special attention to symmetries and and parallelism, all important for proper forks' alignment and function. Made of thick steel and powder coated for a long life. Black finish.
The kit also includes our own short GRP front mudguard, pre-trimmed, pre-drilled and pre-mated to the fork brace using some very nice stainless steel fasteners, including hard to source nyloc s/s dome nuts plus rubber washers to help insulate it from vibrations. Built to our usual high standards with special care given to its surface and fine edges. Glossy white finish, requiring only minimal preparation work prior to painting.
Our short front mudguard is based on the original BMW /6 & /7 front mudguard, retaining its outer shape and bead edge all around by around 24cm shorter (12cm shorter at each end) thus keeping an original and period look. Over the years, we've must have sold hundreds and has been one of our most popular items in our catalogue of parts.
IMPORTANT:
1 - Fit is fairly straightforward as our brace replaces the original rust prone pressed steel mudguard holder. It is easier and quicker to remove the front wheel and slide the fully assembled fork brace kit from underneath. Care should be exercised to avoid scratching and cause other unsightly damages as it is a tight fit.
Standalone fork braces are also available as these are designed also to accept the original BMW front mudguards. Please contact us for more details.
