Our new BMW Urban Scrambler kit, designed to convert all the BMW R2v /6 & /7 Series (1974-1984) into something more comfortable and practical around town yet still be stylish.
This BMW Urban Scrambler basic kit comprises:
- FlatRacer BMW short sub-frame kit
- FlatRacer 6" stainless steel mudguard, pre-trimmed, drilled to fit
- Fork brace kit, featuring the 5" stainless steel short mudguard
- All the necessary s/s fittings, fasteners, rubber bobbins & washers
The FlatRacer BMW Urban Scrambler kit includes our new, very rigid and reinforced, tubular steel short sub-frame and a specifically designed Cafe Racer hump type seat that locks and hinges like the originals, which is very comfortable thanks to its high density foam with the appropriate height.
The seat includes an original locking spigot and front and rear stainless steel hinges and fasteners, making this conversion a simple bolt on job.
Uniquely among aftermarket sub-frame kits for these BMW Airhead Boxers, our sub-frame kits include seats that lock and hinge like the originals, align with the lower edge of the tank, keeping a very similar ride height. Our short sub-frame will accept the original side panels and retain the original shock absorber dimensions and geometries.
IMPORTANT: Please note that you will need to retain and fit your existing seat lock mechanism to our sub-frame in order for our seat to fit correctly.
A straight pleated or lozenge quilted (/7 Series only) seat cover is available either in black or dark chocolate brown high quality vinyl (state your choice when ordering). The seat cover has its pattern hot pressed in place to reduce the ingress of dirt and water for reduced maintenance and greater longevity.
We have sourced an attractive and durable stainless steel rear mudguard that is pre-trimmed and pre-drilled to fit our short rear sub-frame (six mounting points fixing as per the original rear mudguard). In additional, we include our own fork brace kit featuring a nicely matched 5" s/s short front mudguard.
OPTIONS:
1 - Straight pleated or lozenge quilt (/7 Series only) seat cover options, either black or dark chocolate brown. Please select your choice on the options list.
2 - We also offer as option our new centre tool tray, based on our own GRP (fibreglass) replica of the original BMW /6 & /7 centre tool tray. This tray is modified and trimmed to suit this application and includes all the required fittings and s/s fasteners. Please contact us more details.
3 - We can supply and pre-fit one of our tail light and indicators of your choice to the rear mudguard, including rubber grommets for the wiring. Please check our listings or contact us with your requirements.

NB: Similar kit can be assembled for the BMW R45/65 (78-84) and the earlier /5 Series although some changes in this kit specification would be required (splitting the rear mudguard to better suit the rear wheel radii on short wheel base models). Please do contact us for more details.
