Fits the /7 Series and Monolevers.
It can be made to fit the R45/65 and /5 SWB models with modifications (see below or contact us for details).
- FlatRacer Monza GRP tail section, pre-trimmed and drilled
- Tail rear mounting bracket and stainless steel fasteners
- Upholstered seat base, pre-fitted w/ stainless fasteners (8 fixing points)
- BMW 70mm alloy roundel emblem
1 - Cat eye tail light/alloy plate holder, pre-fitted
2 - Polished alloy trim - pre-fitted to the upholstered seat base (detachable)
3 - Pre-fitted lock spigot, mid hinge and front rubber stops - required to fit BMW R45/65 (78-84) & /5 SWB series (70-72)
The kit features our tail section, made of GRP for corrosion resistance and long working life, finished in gloss white gel coat. As per our usual standards, it is extra strong, typically 4-6mm+ thick in the seat area, thanks to be reinforced with 300/600gr/m2 woven roving (similar to yacht construction methods), flexible yet nigh on unbreakable.
As per our standard practice with our tail kits, it comes with a pre-fitted upholstered seat base, fixed by 8 stainless steel bots and penny washers onto the base pre-fitted rivnuts. This makes it easier to remove it for paint or repair.
The foam (50mm thick) has the correct density for comfort and ergonomics and the heavy duty, double skinned and padded vinyl seat cover features our trademark pleated design, hot pressed in place to keep it water resistant. The seat cover is very carefully and neatly fitted in place, held in place by large flange alloy rivets.
Optional Cat Eye tail light (shown) pre-fitted and polished alloy seat trim (shown) also pre-fitted, available at additional cost.
We can also pre-fit a BMW OEM lock spigot, two front rubber bump stops and a stainless steel front hinge at extra cost. This option is required if fitting this tail kit to a BMW R45/65 or the earlier /5 SWB series. This option also makes it easier to access to the battery and for the tail removal. Please contact us for more information and details.
1 - If fitting this tail kit to a BMW Monolever, it will be required to cut off the small upright pin on the rear sub-frame LH top tube (helmet lock pin).
2 - This tail kit is usually fitted under slight tension by inserting its front lug on the frame main top centre tube and lowering the tail until the pre-fiited rear bracket aligns with the original rear lug (for the pannier racks) and can be fixed in place using the supplied s/s fasteners.
3 - These tail kits are made to order to fit each specific bike model and year and customers' specific requests. please do allow us 1-2 weeks to have it ready from point of order. Please let us know your bike model and year and if original or modified at the checkout so we can ensure we will prepare the kit to fit correctly on your bike.
